1 Samuel 10:20-22 (NLT) "So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel before the Lord, and the tribe of Benjamin was chosen by lot. 21 Then he brought each family of the tribe of Benjamin before the Lord, and the family of the Matrites was chosen. And finally, Saul son of Kish was chosen from among them. But when they looked for him, he had disappeared! 22 So they asked the Lord, 'Where is he?' And...

A few months ago, I wrote about some of the problems we were having in our bathrooms. You can read about that here if you would like.

On June 15th, I demolished my two bathrooms due to leaky pipes. Today, November 8th, both of my bathrooms are 100% finished! It only took  146 days to complete the project! I put the last bit of finished trim up this morning, and it feels so good to have this projec...

A goal of mine is to post a new blog post every Monday. Unfortunately, I have missed this goal twice in the past month. The main reason for this is that my day off recently moved from Mondays to Fridays.

I thought that posting on a Monday would still be ok, but there is no time left in the day after going to the gym, working, taking my daughter to piano lessons, hosting a Community Group, and tucki...

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that w...

Romans 12:18 (NIV) "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

Romans 12:18 is simple to understand and difficult to apply. Live at peace with everyone is a reasonable request. We should desire to live lives of peace and to get along with others around us.

I was driving the other day, minding my own business, when a car came flying around the corner and into my la...

Today has been an encouraging day. The day is not over yet, but it's been good. Why has this day been an especially good day? One word: friendship.

After spending time with some awesome co-workers this morning, I drove for about 65 miles. During this time I talked on the phone to a friend in Bolivia. My missionary friend had a question for me, and we ended up talking the entire 65 miles. It was enc...

I was working out the other day when a verse popped into my head. It was tempting to stop my workout and go write this blog, but I reluctantly persevered. Check this verse out.

“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭4:8

Physical training is good! There is nothing wrong with physical...

One of my all-time favorite scriptures is in Deuteronomy 4:29.

Leading up to this verse, Moses is talking to the nation of Israel and telling them of all that will happen to them if they disobey God and turn their backs on Him. It's not an encouraging message.

Moses says to the nation of Israel, "You will utterly be destroyed. You will utterly perish. The Lord will scatter you." Fun stuff.

And that...

In case you didn't know, it is a desire and goal of mine to post every week on this blog. If you read the blog every week, you know that I've been silent for a couple of weeks. This was not intentional but a matter of me forgetting to write. I forgot to write because I lost track of time for almost two weeks.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been putting in some long hours at work and home. We...

"Time is a valuable thing. Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings. Watch it count down to the end of the day. The clock ticks life away. It's so unreal."

It's been almost 20 years since Link Park released Hybrid Theory, which included their smash hit "In The End." The quote above is from that song.

"In The End" has always been one of my favorite songs to listen to because it's catchy and I like the...
