I Just Want to Watch the Olympics.
I've tried watching the winter Olympics the last two nights while recuperating from a cold. TRIED is the keyword here. I have an antenna sitting on the roof of my shed and it is temperamental. In fact, it barely works.
When it does work, the picture is clean and nice. The unfortunate part is that it only works 30% of the time. It's annoying.
So tonight, while trying to watch some halfpipe snowboarding, I had had enough! I decided to move the antenna. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. It's high, there is over a foot of snow on the ground, and I don't have anything to stand on outside.
So what did I do? I found the closest thing I could find, in this instance a shovel, and moved the antenna with the shovel.
Moving the antenna with the shovel took care of my problem. For about a minute. After the third or fourth time of moving the antenna, with nothing getting better, I became very annoyed.
So I may have gone outside and firmly smacked the antenna a few times with the shovel. I might have even yelled at it once or twice. Did it feel good to smack the antenna? You bet. Did it improve the quality of the signal? Nope. Did I bend one of the little crossbars on the antenna in the process? Possibly. Did I really just let a TV antenna upset me? Unfortunately, yeah.
Wow. Talk about a first world problem huh? I want to watch TV and I want to watch it NOW! I am upset that I can't watch the Olympics. Really, this is what I am going to choose to be upset about!?
I have food. I have water. I have shelter. I have a family who loves me. I have a job. I have heat. I have SO MUCH and yet I whine about little things that really don't matter!
It can be difficult to count your blessings. I often look at what I do not have instead of focusing on all that I am blessed with! It's a daily struggle. I don't like my car. I don't like my house. I don't like (fill in the blank).
Instead, I want to be thankful for all that I do have! I am truly blessed. I want to always be thankful for all that God has blessed me with! I am blessed; whether I watch the Olympics or not.
By the way, the antenna is working fine now. Go figure.
Until Monday, Josh
