The $26 Day Off
I wrote a post a few weeks ago about how my Monday didn't feel like a day off.
Today was the complete opposite.
Today was a great day with my family. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings, Fort Frenzy, and the Fort Dodge Aquatic Center. We had a blast! The kids did not fight, the weather was perfect, and it was a relaxing day! Here's a fun side note, we did all of this for $26.
How did we get by so cheap? Well, we used some gift cards that we had been squirreling away for such an occasion. I think birthday gifts from last year and Christmas presents paid for most of our meal and our 1-hour passes at Fort Frenzy. It was awesome.
As I sit here and write this post, I feel relaxed, sleepy, and also glad that I never gave up on my Mondays. I thought about it a time or two. I could have easily justified working because there is "always something to do." I could have easily found things to go and do by myself since it is "my" day off. But you know what? I decided to stick it out and today feels like a reward for my perseverance.
The point of this short blog post? Persevere. Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary." Don't grow weary but instead persevere. Continue moving forward and don't give up.
In what ways do you need to persevere? For me, it was something trivial like my days off. My perseverance brought me to this fantastic day off. And it only cost me $26.
Until Monday, Josh
