Like Job

"There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil." Job 1:1

I read this scripture and today and quickly realized that it is important to be like Job. Notice four things about Job's character that are found in this scripture.

Job was blameless. Blameless means to be without fault or innocent. Job made good decisions that caused him to prosper and have a good reputation.

Job was upright. Upright means to be honest, just, and not deviating from correct moral principles. Job was a man of integrity who did what he said he would do.

Job feared God. He showed reverence, awe, and respect toward God in his words and actions. Job knew that God was mighty and worthy to be revered and respected.

Job turned away from evil. He refused to do anything that would not please God. Job lived his life for God and turned away from the many evils found in the world.

Blameless, upright, God-fearing, and refusing to do evil should describe every person who has decided to surrender their life to God the Father.

I want to be like Job. Do you?
