The year 2018 will come to an end in a few short hours. When 2018 began, I set a goal for myself to write a new blog post every Monday. The reason this became a goal is that this blog had become neglected. In 2016 and 2017 there were twenty total posts added to this blog. That's right, 20.
This post marks the 50th post of 2018! There were 53 Mondays in 2018. There were no blog posts on three Mondays because of vacation with the family, a retreat, and Christmas Eve. Last time I checked 94% was an A. I'll take it.
This blog has been averaging 80 reads every week! The number of subscribers to this blog has grown from 7 to almost 70. Which reminds me, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and subscribe to my blog! The blog post I wrote about my new home, you can read it here, was read by over 250 people. This post, in particular, taught me a few things about choosing blog post content and the desire in all of us to peer into the lives of others.
People of all ages have commented to me about how this blog has impacted them. They shared similar struggles, hopes, victories, and words of encouragement. On a personal note, my grammar and punctuation have improved this year as a result of blogging weekly. Grammarly also helps me write better than what I could ever do on my own.
Why do I share this with you during this last Monday of 2018?
These 50 blog posts happened because of a goal. Did I achieve a perfect 100%? Did I blog 53 times this year? Nope. But I'm happy with 50. Were they all great? Nope. Did I enjoy writing? You bet. Had this goal not been set I guarantee this blog would not exist. It would have been shut down.
Goals are important. It's important to set, celebrate, and make new goals. 2019 is moments away. Set some goals. Go after them. Do your best and have some fun! If you come up short, as I did, at least you gave it your best effort.
By the way, I'm aiming for 100% in 2019! Will I make it? That's the plan. Will I enjoy the journey? You bet.
